    Hi,

I managed to build a 4 axis cnc hot wire cutter as per rckeith build, it works very nice.
However, the wooden frame and drawer slides doesn't allow higher wire tension.
The radiation technique provides poor surface finish, due to the nature of the white foam we have locally.
The poor finish reduces the amount of surface contact for the glue I need to apply for the strength needed.

I am thinking of making another frame, mounted on steel table, so I can have higher tension to drag the wire across the foam, similar to manually hand cutting. Does anyone has any idea of which aluminium profile size to use to handle the tension?

I currently using stainless steel wire 0.5mm, to get the required tension I might go for thicker stainless steel wire. Is it also possible to have at least 1 meter cutting width ?

    Thank you
