    Very useful.
    Sad that
    a) the end-stop plates are missing (they have a serious design flaw and I wanted to design a modified verison).
    I'll have to meassure and design them myself.

    b) no constraints between the dozens of parts in an assembly get imported (may be the fault of Geomagic to not import them, may be they are not present in the design). So everything is floating around unconstrained.

      Which end stop plates are you referring to? I would be happy to include missing parts.
      Regarding constraints, the original Solidworks assemblies definitely have mates, but they are lost when converting to a generic format such as STEP. I don't know if it's possible, but maybe Geomagic can import Solidworks files?

    Could be better. Major flaw the round in the profile of the extrusion are not accurately dimensioned to what actually exists. This problem has been present in most if not all 3D cad files I have opened. The issue is this if you want to print a part that slides onto an extrusion that part with big round corner for the profile will now interfere with the actual aluminum extrusion making that part difficult to put on or not good at all. Unfortunately I found this out the hard way and the only fix I have been able to implement is to remove all radii from all extrusion profiles.
