Looks like a good start. Can't wait to see how you fit the mechanics into the finished project.

You mention Dibond being expensive but if you shop around, its really not that bad. A pack of 10 12x18 panels is only $55 on ebay or 24x48 panels on Amazon for $30. It might be interesting to start with a larger sheet and do a folded design of this project.

Thanks for the input Rick. I did come across some of these links but those are actually 1/8" thick panels. I needed the 1/4" which for whatever reason is either way more expensive or harder to come by. Usually the stuff I came across in 1/4" thickness came in the 4 ft x 8 ft sheets and I just didn't want to manage transporting or cutting something that big. However, I really like your score and fold idea.

I keep a standing search for Alucobest panels on Ebay to have them email me as soon as any pop up. A little over a year ago I scored seven of the silver 16 x 50 x 1/4 panels for $16 apiece (shipped). 80/20 puts their off-cuts out periodically and they generally don't last long.

Double check the units on your chip load. I am assuming you are using a 3 flute (cutting blades).

Feed Rate = Chip Load x RPM x Flutes

    .001 in x 16000 RPM x 3 = 48 in/min = 4 feet/min
